My family and I are stuck in quarantine for a week; my eldest son tested positive for Covid19 (but everyone else tested negative), so we can’t go out. That means that the kids follow classes online. I noticed their notebooks and suddenly realised that a notebook used to be called a ‘cahier’, which is a French word meaning the exact same thing. I guess it sounded sophisticated at the time. Mon Petit Cahier (meaning: My Little Notebook) is a handmade script font. It is not meant to be awe-inspiring, nor do you want to use it for headlines or posters. The English stone carver, artist, and typographer Eric Gill conceived the Joanna typeface as a personal design for use in books printed at his Joanna Press."" Gill saw his press work there as a continuation of the British Arts and Crafts Movement, pioneered in the 19th Century by William Morris. Joanna is notable for its almost vertical ""upright"" italics, and the unusally small size of its italic characters. Joanna is versatile and extremely legible. The letterforms are a bit narrow, so the face is very economic as well. A lot of text may be packed densely together onto a page with Joanna. Joanna mixes very well with other typefaces designed by Eric Gill; especially Gill Sans.

Grafiker means 'Graphic Designer' in German. This fat, colored, uneven font with a 1001 uses was loosely based on the work of designers Oskar Kokoschka (1886 - 1980) and Jean Carlu (1900 - 1997). Hello Headline is a bold and friendly typeface designed specifically (believe it or not) for headlines. All of the letters are chunky and rounded, which is probably the reason why they are visible from afar. And I mean, really, really afar. The overall feel of the typeface is meant to be very casual and affable, so it is great for businesses that are fun, outgoing and sincere.

This font was drawn with a round marker and is very bubbly and girly.

ITC Forkbeard is the work of British designer Michael Gills and named after a famous Viking warrior. Gills was inspired by the work of Victor Hammer as well as a lesser known uncial style called Andromaque. Hand lettering of the song title on the 1914 sheet music for “Dear Old Girl” was the working model for Old Songs JNL. A condensed Roman typeface available in both regular and oblique versions, this titling font exhibits a casual, nonconformist design that isn’t quite traditional, nor is it part of the Art Nouveau movement popular at the time.

SusiScript is an friendly, informal typeface family with three weights, each with an oblique style. The idea for SusiScript came from a girl named Suzi who wrote her "e"s in a peculiar way. The typeface does not replicate her handwriting, which was very hard to read; it merely drew inspiration from several of her letters.

In one of our yearly type hunts, we came across the ancestor of this font, much wider and more decorative, with fine outside shading. Condition was poor so we did the obvious, cutting out the excess decoration and condensing the face optically. It reeks of dancing girls and drunken sailors and other colorful attributes of Old San Francisco.

Corinthian is the work of Colin Brignall, a clean sans serif which was inspired by Edward Johnston's Railway Type and Eric Gill's Gill Sans.

The swooshy swirls of the uppercase paired with the simple lowercase creates a very useful title font. Romantic and girly but still perfectly legible.

Justine, while a playful, swirly, girly font is a complete font with the full character set. It was inspired by the handwriting of Justine Childs.

Creating Halla was a bit unusual for me since I started out creating the italic version first and that inspired the name Halla, meaning to tilt in Icelandic. It is also a fairly common female name in Iceland. “Halla” is derived from old Norse word “hallr” = 'flat stone, rock' or 'sloping, leaning to one side' Halla is a true italic inspired by handwriting and mechanical type. The combination of Light and Italic makes Halla ideal for advertising, branding, signage, packaging and editorial design.
